The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Proves That Small Changes Makes A Dramatic Difference

While the Hyundai Santa Fe may not make it to the front page as frequently as the larger Palisade SUV, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t resonate with buyers. The question is, what changes can we expect from this mid-sizer for the 2023 model year?
Small But Intentional Changes For The New Santa Fe
Hyundai Motors has taken the 2022 Santa Fe to its full advantage by introducing the all-new Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid variant. Therefore, the changes for the 2023 version are minimal and center more on tacking on slotting in more standard equipment to the vehicle. For instance, with Highway Driving Assist, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and voice recognition are all involved in SEL and higher trims. Except for the base SE model, the newest Santa Fe also has over-the-air map updates in every trim.
As for the rest of the vehicle, it’s essentially unchanged, as buyers can still choose three powertrain options. The 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder, in particular, still acts as the base engine, while the Limited and Calligraphy models journey with a 281-hp, turbocharged version of the same powertrain.
The hybrid and PHEV versions of the 2023 Santa Fe use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder. The hybrid produces 178 hp combined, while the output of the PHEV’s brawnier is bumped to a combined 261 hp. Fuel economy is still essential for these variants, with the hybrid SEL Premium and Limited trims receiving an EPA-rated 32 mpg combined and the base Blue at 34 mpg. The fuel-economy figures for this latest 2023 Hyundai PHEV have not yet been revealed, though the 2022 model received an -rated 76 mpg-e and 31 miles of pure electric range.
Price Amplifies (Slightly) Across the Lineup
The mid-size 2023 Santa Fe prices are slightly upsurged over this year’s model; however, it has not yet been released for the PHEV version. For an added $1,700, buyers can get all-wheel-drive (AWD) to all gas-powered trims, while hybrids get this drivetrain as a standard. You can check out the starting prices for the 2023 lineup below, with all prices involving destination fees.
- SE: $29,495 (an increase of $500)
- SEL: $33,195 (an increase of $2,450)
- XRT: $34,995 (an increase of $950)
- Limited: $41,345 (an increase of $640)
- Calligraphy: $43,345 (an increase of $640)
- Blue (HEV): $36,955 (an increase of $1,360)
- SEL (HEV): $40,815 (an increase of $1,160)
- Limited (HEV): $42,615 (an increase of $610)
Pricing like this makes way for the 2023 Santa Fe to remain a formidable competitor among some of its the segment’s fiercest, such as the Nissan Rogue ($28,585), Kia Sorento Hybrid ($37,885), and Sorento PHEV ($51,185).
