Hyundai Reveals All-New INSTER EV

Hyundai recently revealed an all-new electric vehicle called the INSTER EV. The latest EV to come from the South Korean automaker will be a subcompact SUV. It will be based on Hyundai’s gas-powered CASPER model. As of late, Hyundai has made tremendous progress with its electric lineup. EVs like the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 have already made strides given their high performance and versatility. While EVs in general have been met with criticism due to their battery range, automakers like Hyundai have been steadily increasing capability and battery capacity. We’ll look at the all-new INSTER EV and see what consumers can expect.
Hyundai Unveils New Subcompact SUV
Hyundai recently unveiled an all-new electric SUV called the INSTER. Based on the South Korean CASPER model, the new INSTER is set to be a subcompact EV. On top of being a smaller model, the INSTER is also supposed to be one of Hyundai’s most affordable EVs. Alongside range, price has been an obstacle for would-be EV customers. With Hyundai’s latest model, those looking for an affordable EV will find it with the INSTER. It is still unclear if the subcompact SUV will make its way to the United States but given the increasing demand for an affordable EV, it’s likely.
More information about the INSTER EV will be forthcoming once Hyundai officially debuts it at the Busan International Mobility Show in late June. There, consumers will learn more about Hyundai’s most affordable EV. We expect the INSTER to feature up to 220 miles of battery range. It will also likely incorporate Hyundai’s Active Air Skirt technology which was designed specifically for EVs. The subcompact EV is based on the CASPER, a gas-powered model sold exclusively in South Korea. As such, the INSTER builds off the CASPER’s design adding a more modern and sophisticated style. The EV features Hyundai’s daytime running lights and the automaker’s pixel turn signals and taillights.
Pricing has not been announced for the Hyundai INSTER EV but since it’s slated to be one of the most affordable EVs, consumers can expect a reasonable MSRP. The CASPER model starts at about $15,000 (plus destination fee) so consumers can expect an MSRP of about $25,000 to $30,000 (plus destination fee). We’ll be staying tuned for more information, but so far it seems that the Hyundai INSTER EV will attract a new set of EV customers.
