For its latest study, the nonprofit tested and reviewed nearly 50 different EVs. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 placed third behind the Kia EV9 and BMW IX. Consumer Reports based its study on ride quality, charging capability, and overall performance. While the Ioniq 6 did not place first, scoring within the top 3 is a testament to its capability and versatility.
The Ioniq 6 arrives with 361 miles of battery range. While this may seem like an average range for modern EVs, the fully electric sedan offers one of the fastest charge times. With Hyundai’s new e-platform, future iterations of the Ioniq 6 will see an even quicker charge time. Focusing on performance, the Ioniq 6 is offered with two powertrain setups: a single motor or a dual motor. The single motor sees 149 horsepower with rear-wheel drive. The dual motor increases horsepower to 320 and features all-wheel drive. The sedan offers a smooth ride with engaging handling. It also sees a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.3 seconds.
Inside the Ioniq 6, owners will find a comfortable cabin with a minimalist design. The interior is spacious offering ample room for up to five passengers. The cabin is quiet thanks to sound-deadening materials throughout making for a smooth ride no matter the destination. A 24-inch dual display serves as the digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen. Drivers have access to an array of driver assist and safety features like a heads-up display. There are also features like forward collision alerts, blind spot avoidance, lane keep assist, and smart cruise control. At a starting MSRP of $42,450 (plus destination fee), the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is one of the best-rated EVs available.
